Last Friday, after working 12 hours, I came home and Kurt greets me at the door, "Who's the best husband?" he says, with our wedding video in hand. We all watched it that night and the memories flooded back.
Our up north TV is in the repair shop right now, so I dropped off the wedding video to be copied at the same TV shop, the $18 fee would be worth it, plus I can put a copy in the safety deposit box for safe keeping, I thought. The man at the video place asked me too many questions when I dropped it off...."How long is the video, do you want to keep the box, ya sure you don't want a DVD"? Augh! How hard is it to copy a VHS tape?
So, I run a few errands, and come home to a message on my answering machine... "Mrs. Graber, can you call us about the video, I need to ask you a question." So, I angrily call and the man says "What is on this video?" (Now keep in mind the box and the tape say "Wedding Memories" on it)... I say, "My wedding video"! The man gets quiet and says, "Well, not anymore.... now it's a copy of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles". My head is reeling, Luke was watching that in our bedroom on Saturday as I was writing my paper for my class on the computer.... the tape was left in the VCR part, which is part of the TV.
Needless to say, we are sick over the whole thing. I am calling Carnival tomorrow to see if they have a copy (from 8 years ago, yeah right). The guy at the shop said, "This is like that "Everyone loves Raymond episode"..... not funny.
Lesson learned: Make a copy of your wedding video.... before your 5 year old erases it.

So sorry for your loss, one of our wedding videos has an episode of general hospital from 1990 so it happens to the best of us!!!
I hope I don't have to watch the 11:00 news to see if Sheriff Hackel is holding a news conference with yours & Kurt's pictures on it.
Wow – what a story!
I’m SO sad for you. Wish there was some way you could hit an “undo” button on the machine
I feel so awful for you about the wedding video escapade. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the cruise line might be able to help you out. You poor thing!
So sorry to hear - that stuff can really bum you out. Good luck with calling carnival - I hope somehow they can pull it from their archives
